Newman’s Birthday Book Club

Newman’s Birthday Book Club is a wonderful way to celebrate our students and their enjoyment of reading! Your participation allows your child to be personally involved in helping build the Library’s collection of books. We hope you will consider participating.

How does it work?

Parents donate $17 to purchase a “Birthday Book” for their child. During their birthday month, your child will choose a new hardcover book (from selections chosen for this Program) to donate to the Library. Your child will be the first to check this new book out and then it becomes part of the Library’s permanent collection.

What do you get?

When your child joins the Birthday Book Club, he/she will:

• Receive a special bookmark from the Librarian
• Be recognized as the donor of the chosen book with a commemorative bookplate
• Be the first student to check out the new book

Who chooses the books?

Jennifer Murray, the Newman Librarian, will choose an assortment of age-appropriate books for the Birthday Book Club. Your child will then choose a book from among these selections.

What if my child already had his/her birthday or has a summer birthday?

Birthday Book Club donations are accepted at any time. If your child’s birthday has already passed, he/she will be invited to choose a Birthday Book soon after your donation is processed.

To ensure your child’s Birthday Book is ready for his/her birthday month, payments should be submitted by the 15th of the prior month. Payments received after this date will be processed as quickly as possible, but we cannot guarantee they will be ready for your child’s birthday.

The Birthday Book Club is overseen by Jennifer Murray, the Newman Librarian, and is facilitated by the Newman PTC. This is not a fundraiser for the PTC and all donations are used to add books to the Newman Media Center.

There are two ways to order your Birthday Book:

• Order online (You will need your My School Bucks log in)
• Download the PDF form, print, fill-out, and send in a check
